The growth of the aluminum oxide film depends on the ratio of the film's dissolution and growth speed, in general, the concentration of aluminum oxide solution increased, the dissolution rate of oxide film also increased; on the contrary, the concentration of the solution decreases and the dissolution rate also decreases. At the beginning of the oxidation of aluminum sheet, the growth rate of the oxide film in strong solution is greater than that of the dilute solution, but as time increases, the growth rate in strong solution become slower than the growth rate in dilute solution. Therefore, it is necessary to select the concentration of the solution according to the requirements of the aluminum oxide film.

For example, at the beginning of oxidation, the growth rate is fast in strong solution, it is easy to dyeing, with high porosity, but hardness, wear resistance and other performances of film are poor. on the contrary, the oxide film obtained in dilute solution  has low porosity, good wear resistance and reflectivity, but it is suitable for the dyeing of various light colors. Production practice proves that the aluminum oxide film that requires high adsorption capacity and elasticity, its concentration of sulfuric acid should be control at 18%-20%, the aluminum oxide film that requires high wear resistance, its concentration of sulfuric acid should be control at 16%-17%.
